Equipment List and Extras

Skiing Gear

  • Ski touring skis with touring bindings (bindings pre-adjusted).
  • Ski boots with a walk mode.
  • Skins (properly cut and fitted to your skis).
  • Shovel (metal).
  • Beacon (digital, 2-antenna, less than 10 years old).
  • Probe (minimum 250 cm).
  • Helmet (optional, but recommended).

Day Pack Essentials

  • Day pack (capacity between 20L and 40L).
  • Lunch container or Tupperware.
  • Water bottle/Thermos (camelbacks are prone to freezing).
  • Goggles and sunglasses.
  • Toque and ball cap.
  • Sunscreen.
  • Headlamp (with spare batteries).
  • Pocketknife, screwdriver, or multitool (e.g., Leatherman).
  • Extra transceiver batteries.

Clothing for the Field

  • Base layers (long underwear and undershirt made of synthetic or wool).
  • Outerwear: Lightweight, non-insulated Gore-Tex or soft-shell jacket and pants.
  • Mid-layer: Fleece or
  • Primaloft shirt.
  • Warm layer: Down or synthetic insulated jacket.
  • Gloves: Two pairs (one for uphill, one for downhill).
  • Headgear: Ball cap or headband for uphill travel; toque or helmet for downhill.
  • Ski socks: Good-fitting, high-quality pairs.

Lodge Gear and Clothing

  • Toiletries: Personal hygiene essentials.
  • Hut shoes: Lightweight and comfortable.
  • Towel and swimsuit: For the sauna.
  • Lodge clothing:
    • 1 pair of pants.
    • 2–3 T-shirts.
    • 1 sweatshirt.
    • 1 long-sleeve shirt.
    • 2 pairs of warm socks.

Glacier Gear List (only for glacier tours)

  • Cordelette:
    • 1 x 5-7mm diameter, 5m length
    • 1 x 5-6mm diameter, 2m length (Hollow Block is a great alternative for ropes 7mm or larger)
  • Sling:
    • 1 x 120cm+ length
  • Carabiners:
    • 1 x auto-locking (Triple-Action)
    • 3 x locking
    • 4 x non-locking (two of the same shape if using a Garda Hitch)
  • Ice Screw:
    • 1 x 19cm+ length (consider adding a second for an anchor in smaller groups)
  • Petzl Micro Traxion (or other progress capture device, optional)
  • Tibloc (optional)
  • Pulley (optional)
  • Harness: Lightweight with adjustable leg loops (ideal)
  • Helmet
  • Rope(s) Specific ropes based on trip requirements, contact for more details
 

Packing Notes

  • Pack all gear into a 50L duffel bag
  • No wheeled or hard suitcases
